publish a book?

Snowzombie98 asked:

if you wanted to publish a book. is it going to make a deference in terms of how hard it is to get published, on the KIND of book?
(for example, a fiction book compared to a book on the history of the Grand Canyon)

it is difficult to get published regardless of what genre it is. But there are trends that do come and go. For example, Historical Romance is on a downswing in that past several years, but paranormal romance is big. The trend will change as time goes on.
What I’ve learned and hear time and again, is to write whats in your heart and what interests you. Than you can study up and research which publishing companies are looking for your types of stories and query them when your work is finished.
    Good luck

Strictly said, yes. Publishers consider many things - past credentials, the quality of the book, the ability of the book to earn a hefty amount of green, the ability of the book to entertain the audience (mainly children nowadays). However, as long as the book you write is a good one in terms of quality, it will get published no matter what type it is. Nonfiction may be a tad bit harder to publish, though.

In the past, it probably would have been harder to get a fiction book published. You would probably need an agent. You would also have to write top-quality fiction, because you had a lot of competition and plus, quality matters more in a story than in an information book.

It’s still probably as hard to get a fiction book published as it ever was. In fact, you probably have more competition today, so it’ll be even more difficult.

However, fiction books have remained mostly stable when it comes to difficulty of getting published. Nonfiction books have become much harder to publish nowadays.

Why? Well, which would YOU prefer to do? Supposing you had a report; would you prefer to go to the library, and spend your time hunting through books until your eyes get sore? Or would you rather visit wikipedia or some other easy, online site?

Thanks to the internet, nonfiction books are becoming harder to publish because of lowered demand.

It’s fine with me, though. I love wikipedia.

Get yourself a good editor and self publish! Then you can write about whatever you want.
